I bumped in to James at the local stables a couple of months back whilst he was shoeing some of the ponies. I used to live next door to his sister and we got chatting. He’s a great bloke with some very funny stories to tell but all the time I was wanting to shoot some pictures of him at work. I got that opportunity this morning and luckily I had my kit with me. James grew up around horses so it was no surprise when he went off train as a farrier at Myserscough College in Lancashire at the age of 19. Since then he’s built a superb reputation which keeps him in demand with owners across the area. It’s incredible to watch a master of this trade at work. It’s certainly a privilege to photograph a profession that is so fascinating.
Thanks to James for allowing me to photograph him at work.
