Jess + Dan got married at The Inn On The Lake, Ullswater, in the heart of The Lake District. I’ve lived here all my life and have a soft spot for this area. The view from the bridal suite is world class and Jess was a little overcome when she first walked into the room. Down below was the gazebo being prepared for the ceremony. Everyone was relaxed with only a hint of nerves. They chose to read their own vows during the ceremony. I particularly liked Dan’s promise the ‘get rid of all the creepy crawlies in the house’. As Jess + Dan signed the register their guests were treated to a performance by Brendan Lewes, Jess’s brother, who is one of my favourite singer songwriters. Check him out at www.brendanlewes.com or on Spotify.
After the wedding breakfast everyone made the short walk to the pier at Glenridding for a trip out on the lake aboard Raven, on of the Ullswater Steamers. Brendan played for a while before the speeches. If you ever visit the Lake District then a trip on Ullswater is a MUST.
By the time we had been up to Pooley Bridge and back the light was fading fast. I managed to get a quick shot on the pier in the dark before everyone went back to the hotel. Jess + Dan began their first dance but they, and the bridal party, had a little surprise for everyone. They began with a Meatloaf track “I’ll Do Anything For Love” but this quickly morphed into a rehearsed dance with the bridesmaids and Groomsmen to “Praise You’ by Fatboy Slim. It was brilliant, hats off to you all.
What a wedding, what a brilliant wedding.
